Source System Description

Citation Elements (a BetterGEDCOM term): TMG is packaged with 160 Citation Elements (called "Source Elements") [1] [2] users may create custom elements. [3] All Source Elements (including custom elements) must be assigned to a Source Group; there are 32 source groups. TMG's 32 Source Groups are (alphabetical): Author, Citation Detail, Citation Memo, Citation Reference, Comments, Compiler, Date, Edition, Editor, File Reference, Film Number, Location, Pages, Publisher, Publisher Location, Record Number, Record Type, Repository, Repository Info, Repository Memo, Repository Reference, Second Date, Second Location, Second Person, Series, Short Subtitle, Short Title, Subject, Subtitle, Title, Version, Volumes

Citation Templates (a BetterGEDCOM term): TMG's templates are called "Source Types"; program comes packaged with Lackey and Mills template interpretations. In an "initialize process" Users can overwrite Source Types universally to select between Lackey or Mills.

Users may make modifications to a template, and the may create, name and save custom "Source Types."

Terry Reigle's article, "Considerations for Exporting Sources to GEDCOM 5.5 Files," explains in detail how TMG's source groups are group and prioritized to be exported to GEDCOM 5.5.

Only information written into a TMG source element is exported. Text that is added to a TMG template other than by a source element is not exported to GEDCOM 5.5.
